With the recent popularity of the Valve Steam Deck, many gamer are discussing handheld game consoles with computer functionality. Recently, there has been news that Windows will develop a system specifically for handheld game consoles.
According to information revealed by a Twitter user, Microsoft has been developing a Windows system that can run on handheld game consoles after seeing the success of handheld game consoles with computer functionality like the Valve Steam Deck.
It is currently unclear if this system is still in development, as the last news about it was in September 2022 during the Hackathon. There has been no news about the system since then, so it may be that Microsoft is keeping it a secret or has lost interest.

It is worth mentioning that if this handheld Windows system is successfully developed, the biggest winner should be ASUS as there have been recent rumors that ASUS is developing its own handheld game console, the ROG Ally, which will use the Windows system to ensure more games can be supported.
However, as we all know, even with Windows 11, energy consumption is still a significant issue on Windows system. Not to mention that the system is also very bloated, causing poor battery life and performance.

For this reason, many handheld console manufacturers choose to use Linux ovr Windows.
If Microsoft is really developing this handheld Windows system, the best release time should be together with the ROG Ally. Let us wait and see how it holds!
