Branding is a cult-ish thing, it can make a simple item selling for extremely outrageous (or they prefer the word “premium”) pricing! Apple used to sell their cable expensive, and now Tesla apparently is doing the same!
As Tesla merchandise shop is now online in Malaysia, Tesla has now been selling their merchandise and car accessories for an outrageous pricing! They are selling a medium sized tumbler for over RM150, and cup for RM140!
Not only that, a simple whistle that has the look of a Cybertruck, which does basically nothing but aesthetics and whistling, costs RM240! How crazy can you be to buy such item at such pricing! Also, their Tesla blanket is costing over RM700, for a mere blanket!
Not only that, Tesla car’s official accessories has not been cheap either. A pet liner that is suitable for Model S, Model 3 and Model Y costs RM680, and sunshades costs from RM380 up to RM570! Do the sunshades reflects the whole solar energy back to the space or is it just because it has a Tesla branding?
I am not who exactly would have bought these item, considering Malaysia has a very strong 3rd party car accessories production line, and these item can be easily replaced with their cheap counterparts that serves the same purpose as the “premium” one.
